For all home improvement projects, power tools are an absolute necessity. There are some basic power tools such as jigsaw, circular saw, sander and router that are most commonly used. Circular saw is excellent for cutting down wood, especially sheet materials and plywood. Sander uses power for sanding, and hence saves incredible amount of drudgery and time. Jigsaw is used to cut patterns and holes in the panels, and routers can be used for various small projects that need making recesses and grooves. Various Power Tool Accessories Bit set is one of the most common power tool accessories, and includes bits of most common sizes to complete daily tasks. There is also a hex shank locking system that prevents the problems of spinning bits while working on the projects. The changes are easy and quick so that the job can be finished faster. Some of the most commonly used power tool accessories include alignment tools, drill and drill press accessories, bases, stands and supports, multifunction table, motor accessories, lathe accessories, jigs and fixtures, table saw accessories, pneumatic accessories, INCRA Miter gauges and reciprocating saw accessories.

Product Description

Milwaukee Tools is world-renowned for producing powerful, heavy-duty tools for contractors, mechanics and demanding professionals in every trade. That very same devotion to power, performance and innovation was applied when Milwaukee created the 0928-29 V28 Four-Piece Combo Kit. Included are a hammer-drill/driver, circular saw, reciprocating saw, and work light. All four tools are powered by a high-performance 28-volt lithium-ion battery that weighs less than an 18-volt Ni-Cad, yet delivers twice the run time. The battery has a handy fuel gauge that shows how much power remains.

The hammer-drill/driver has a 1/2-inch keyless chuck and a two-speed, variable-speed motor (zero to 600 rpm, and zero to 1,800 rpm) that delivers a pumped-up 600 in./lbs. of torque. The chuck is equipped with carbide jaws that virtually eliminate bit slippage. There’s no hole too large to drill, or screw too big to drive for this portable powerhouse. And when it’s switched to the hammer mode, this tool will quickly bore through the hardest concrete, brick or stone.

The 6-1/2-inch circular saw is arguably the most powerful cordless saw on the market. According to Milwaukee, this saw can crosscut more than 300 pine 2 by 4s on a single charge. It’s equipped with a high-speed 4,200-rpm motor that chews through wood like a corded saw.

The cordless Sawzall recip saw is an ideal tool for remodelers, plumbers, and electricians. When fitted with the appropriate blade, it’ll cut practically any building material, including nail-embedded wood, metal ducts, plastic pipe, steel rods and roof shingles. Its two-speed, variable-speed motor (zero to 2,000, and zero to 3,000 strokes per minute) lets you choose the optimum cutting speed for the material. The saw has an aggressive 1-1/8-inch stroke length, and is equipped with a tool-free blade clamp and keyless adjustable shoe. The work light comes in handy when working in dark spaces. It has a super-bright xenon bulb that runs over five hours on a single charge.

All four pieces come with the patented Clip-Lok System, which allows you to securely hook the tool onto your belt or tool pouch. Besides the four tools, the 0928-29 combo kit also includes two 28-volt lithium-ion batteries, a one-hour charger, saw blades and screwdriver tips, and an oversized canvas storage bag. -- Joseph Truini ....read more

I bought a kit like this about 2 yr’s ago. I own a cabinet shop in MD. So for installations its one bag of tools instead of several seperate boxes to carry in the home. I have noticed the sawzal runs the battery dry very quickly. As does the circular saw. The cold drains the battery’s as well. The drill works well in any material. The bags support rods have poked thru the bag @ the ends around the zipper area. Lucky for me my install’s need little cutting on site. So my three stars reflect the cost vs. the outcome. I do not use these tools everday. The batteries do have the charge indicator lights to tell how drained it is before you use it. If nothing else the Drill is a excellent product in the V28. If your a handy man and wish to use this bag of tools everyday you may be disapointed in a year.

I am a plumber/pipefitter by trade and this is best set i’ve laid my paws on. Very rough on my tools and these have held up great. Solid tools and top-notch torque. I have had several cordless tools and none have compared. Very happy with them:)

These tools are a great value, especially when you fingure in the free promotional tool Milwaukee gives away if you buy the kit before July 31, 2009.

The skill saw is the best sordless saw ever, as is the sawzall. I’ve had a corded milwaukee sawzall since 1978, and the 28 volt cordless is a much better tool.

The hammer drill is great, but heavy. I may end up buying the 18 volt hammer drill as it will handle most light jobs. The 28 vlt charges, will also charge the 18 volt batteries.

After buying the kit, I went to the Milwaukee web site, and they were having a promotion and for free they sent the 28 volt 1/2 inch drive impact wrench. This wrench is the real thing, will replace my 1/2 air drive.

    Years old and running strong.

I had a set of 18V DeW*lt prior to this. They were stolen from my truck. So I started looking around for a replacement set. Like a light from above an email from Milwaukee arrived in my inbox three days later ( I had purchased and registered a Milwaukee router). The email announced the soon to arrive 28V line. It was soon so I waited just a week or so and then pre-ordered a set. Well as luck would have have it, things were delayed a bit. Apparently a battery factory burnt down so my order was delayed a few weeks so I managed.

When it arrived I was very pleased with the set. Even the light is very useful. I almost never have to use a trouble lamp any more this thing runs forever. My DeW*alt one with run down after just a short time. They could upgrade this to LED, this would be nice but not necessary.

The charger is snappy, usually has a battery ready before you expect it. The battery gauges are good too so that if one crawls across an attic or will be away from the charger you know what you have with you.

I’ve beat the heck out of the drill. So far the only weakness is that either the motor’s rotor/contacts OR the trigger have probably pitted a bit. There are times where the variable speed needs a kick start. But I can’t complain. When it gets really bad I’ll see about repairs.

These tools are so very close to and in several cases exceed tools with cords.

They are not for everyone I suppose as they are not light but they keep on giving.

So thank you to the scumb bag that stole my DeW*lk kit. In the long run i’m better off.

    Power to spare
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve owned a number of cordless power tools, but none have even come close to the power and the amount of work that can be performed between battery recharging. With the two batteries provided with the set, I can work virtually all day and almost never have to recharge. On the rare occasion that two fully charged batteries do not get me through the day, once I put the first battery on charge and switch to the second battery, the first is fully charged and ready to go by the time I exhausted the second battery.

As far as the individual tools are concerned, I have not found any significant flaws. The ergonomics are very good and the design is excellent. For example, the drill/battery interface is designed so the battery can either be mounted from the rear for better balance or from the front if the space you’re working in is a bit cramped. Again, great power. I can drive 3″ deck screws all day and they go in like with little effort. The sawsall has also been of great value as I have used it extensively since buying the set. I’ve done plunge cuts through the subfloor, double layered plywood roof sheathing and cut through 2″ galvanized waste pipe (1/4 inch wall thickness) like a knife through hot butter. While I’ve only used the circular saw for simple crosscuts, it has also done everthing I’ve asked it to do.

Without resorting to hyperbole, this set is right up there with the best and most valuable tool purchases I’ve ever made. I strongly endorse this product and would state otherwise without hesitation if I felt differently.

  6. E. Redifer says:

Haven’t used the corded since I bought these
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have a corded version of each one of these tools – that are all very good – these v28 Milwaukees are nearly as good and so much more convenient. I bought the V28’s about 10 months ago, and none of the corded tools have been used since. I’m a pretty aggressive home user, so I can’t comment on their use by a contractor – however I use them hard enough to know whether they’re good. And, I’ve used the batteries enough to know they are excellent. Some of the early battery reviews here made me put off buying the v28’s for about a year – which was a mistake on my part.

So here are my thoughts about the tools:

Hammer Drill – It’s overkill for most jobs. It’s big, and heavy and powerful. I used the hammer function for about three hours straight one time I was cleaning out a container that had hardened sand in it. Sand got everywhere. I burned up 5 drill bits loosening the stuff. My arm went numb. I went through three batteries. The drill didn’t even slow down. The drill did get mighty hot to the touch which is my only complaint with it. If you’re just driving screws, it’s way overpowered, but it’ll drive deck screws all day on a single charge.

Sawsall – Surprisingly, this is the worst tool in the kit. It vibrates a lot, and it just doesn’t seem to be as well balanced and cut nearly as well as my Tiger saw. It works OK, and is certainly convenient, but I actully thought about getting my corded saw out a while back – haven’t even thought about it with the other tools.

Light – Works fine – this is where the batteries are really great – the light will run for hours on a charge.

Circular saw – Best tool in the kit. Powerful – goes a long time on a charge – it will cut 2x lumber easily. I cut up a big pile of used plywood so that it could be put into trash bags and discarded. I cut about a hundred 2×4’s and the ergonomics and accuracy I think is better than my corded saw.

When I bought the kit, I went all out and bought the V28 bandsaw, the impact wrench, the three bay charger, the radio, and even the toolbox vacuum cleaner. Each one of these works well also. The impact wrench is awesome – and is used so much it already looks 10 years old. It made easy work of changing the struts on a car recently. The vac is a mini shop vac – really convenient and useful all over the house.

I’m quite happy with these tools. If they broke or were stolen I would replace them immediately.

So much power….Don’t have to use cord tools
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’m a tradesman of 8 years and had a Dewalt for about 7 of them. Everybody had a Dewalt so it was a “tradesman friendly” tool. But after using the Milwaukee V28 I leave my cord tools at home. Nice hard case make this kit useful in heavy-duty drill and cutting.

The drill is the main tool that I use, from drilling in boxes to drill thur wood. The sawzall is a great tool (but heavy). Cuts straight and fast. The flashlight is …well… A flashlight – no more to say. The reciprocating saw is just a powerful as a cord model.

The only problem that I have with the kit is the battery and the safety on the drill and sawzall. With a little force or pressure the safety on the drill and the sawzall will run, causing the drill to spin and the sawzall to start cutting, be careful.

When the climate is cold, the battery may act “funny”. I work in Coachella, CA. and it is the cold season right now, and my tool will perform at about 80% of its power. After the sun come up it works feel.

So if you are think about buy this kit, DO IT. Dewalt 18 volt kit is a plastic kit to the milwaukee. The kit is a 6 star kit, with the safety and the battery problem, I have to give it 4.5 star. It will do everything that a cord model will do.

    Heavy Duty Tools
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great way to pick up a bunch of useful tools.

The V28 charger is always up to speed in less time than I expect, and it holds the charge longer and keeps the power level up right until the end, as advertised.

I’ve used the flashlight a little, but that’s just an extra to me, so I’m not overly concerned with it one way or another; it stays on the truck, and if I need it it’s there.

I don’t use the bag – I had filled it, initially, and it did a better job than I had expected at keeping all the tools in there without banging around too badly. However, the bag is large, and didn’t fit well in any of the compartments of the truck, so I upgraded to the hard cases for the three primary tools.

I’ve spent the least amount of time on the Sawzall ~ it did a great job cutting through some heavy PVC pipe, and surprised me that it performed as well or better than some of the corded models I’ve used.

I don’t use the corded circular saw I have any more; this cordless one performs better and feels better to use. It is significantly quieter than the corded saw, and because of that, it tends to surprise me when it actually cuts like I expect it to…

I’ve used the hammer drill as a drill and a driver, and it’s got plenty of power, with a very responsive speed control. I haven’t yet played with the hammer function, but that’s because the tasks I’ve needed that for were large enough that the rotary hammer was the right tool for the job.

I received my kit about 3 weeks ago and love it. I am a professional contractor and use my tools all day long. I was looking for a good kit and wasn’t sure what to go with. I read a review at professional-power-tool-guide.com about this kit and decided to try this kit. I can not believe how light it is and how much power it has. If you are looking for a good kit, take a close look at this.

    Great set of tools
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this upon the suggestion of carpenter friends who held Milwaukee in high regard. This set of tools is extremely solid, contractor grade. Although the sawzall and skill-saw aren’t as powerful as corded units, this will serve most DIYers just fine. There is plenty of power. I am currently doing a major home remodel (down to studs, new pluming, electrical) and these have worked great. The flashlight is a bit weak, but is decently rugged and gets the job done.

The 28 volt provides good power over 18 and the lithium ion is the new standard. The batteries have full power until completely dead. Thus, you have useful power the entire charge, instead of using it for a short while and have to recharge when only halfway discharged.

You also may want to check Milwaukee’s website for promotions. I received a fee orbital sander and wet/dry battery vacuum (which I use more than my tool set!)

Overall, this is a very good quality set, and is highly recommended.

    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I just received these via UPS from Amazon. The tools themselves are great, however the box/packing they came in could have been better. The product was shipped in the original Milwaukee carton without any form of outer box. The Milwaukee box was obviously not designed for shipping. Under normal circumstances, all the tools would fit nicely into a plastic tray. After UPS shipping/handling, all the tools came scrambled inside the box. The drill was even missing one of the screwdriver bits that must have fell out of the loosely sealed carton. Needs better method of shipping/packing. Luckily nothing was broken.

    wrong item
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Good value and perfect for the boat. My big complaint is that the set came packaged with the 18V work light instead of the 28V. Someone at Milwaukee picked the wrong item and no one at Milwaulkee or Amazon was willing to just switch out the one item. Since we wanted to use the drill and saw right away, I didn’t want to ship the complete kit back for a replacement. I get irritated every time I see that silly light which is worthless since we have no 18V battery!

    28 volt power madness
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I waited for a conciderable amount of time before making a decision to buy this Milwaukee combo kit. As a life long Milwaukee power tool user I looked at all the other options that were provided by Makita, DeWalt, Porter-Cable, Hilti… I was not disapointed with my purchase in the least. Compared to my worm drive circular saw the battery powered unit is so easy to use, much lighter and rip cuts so well I may sell my corded one because it won’t be getting much use. The Sawzall also works really well once again making me look twice at what I can get for corded version, if sold. The Litium Ion batteries charge up fast and are very powerful but I think that Milwaukee has it right when they suggest to charge te batteries overnight one a week to make sure that they remain conditioned to maintain full all day lasting power on the job sites. One last thing to mention, the hammer drill is also fabulous if not a little heavy when using it inverted above your frequently during the day, or driving screws, but as usual Milwaukee made it eavy duty and bomb proof. These are not your average Do It Yourselfers tools. Truly professional grade! Keeping that in mind, I would not trade the power of these tools for a litle bit of a workout that they offer because of the additional weight of the batteries. Also I think that the individual boxes that are offered on Amazon is a good investment when carrying the bag with all the blades, bits and additional tools becomes difficult to organize. I’m really happy with this combo… but I think that’s obvious by now.

    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Just bought the V28 set and put it to work right away. The batteries are good but not as good as all the hype. The 1/2 hammer drill was used to drill 5/8 ” holes in a concrete pad with brand new Bosch bit and it started spinning grease out of the chuck shaft. Not a little, but a lot. The drill lost reverse and would only turn clockwise. I contacted two Milwaukee service centers for warranty work since the drill was only a couple of days old. Both shops were nice enough but one was too busy to give me the attention I needed on the tool. I mailed the tool to a shop 75 miles away and they said they would replace the switch. The repairer kept blowing off the grease thing. I would have expected more from a warranty on a very expensive tool the was only used one day. It should have been replaced or at least thoughly checked out. Once I get it back, been two weeks now, I hope it’s as good as new. Maybe spend the money on different set?

I’m only a casual user and have no business owning tools this expensive and heavy duty. However, I can afford it and like how the lithium-ion retains a charge for a long period of time between uses. My 8 year old Dewalt 9.6 and 14.4 cordless drills were great tools but this package is a huge update in so many ways. I also purchased the Milwaukee radio, impact wrench and right angle drill….all amazing and worth every penny. Lastly, I added the new compact Milwaukee V18 drill for the light weight jobs- at just four pounds with battery, it’s the perfect compliment to the heavier duty V28 drill. You get what you pay for and Amazon’s prices are unbeatable.

I had to replace my aging cordless drill and the one manufactuer that I picked was Milwaukee. From all the opinions from other messageboards and friends that have one or more of their cordless V28 system…they are amazed. Now that I have their 4-tool kit, now I can saw WOW!

I have only used the Sawzall and the drill and I am damn glad to have bought this kit. What made it better was that I was able to get a free V28 Impact Wrench!!! Super cool and I can’t wait to use that and the circular saw.

When using the Sawzall – it maintained cutting speed for well over a hour of use. The drill – I can feel the torque it generates. The last time I felt that was my old corded unit. I can see this kit last a greater amount of time than and more use than my now retired cordless drill.

My hat is off for Milwaukee on designing and building one hell of a cordless system. Also damn glad to have gotten it on sale and one free tool!!!

I use these tools for framing goods into ocean containers for export using rough-cut, wet, tough lumber. Unpacking the box I was immediately impressed with the look and feel of these cordless tools because they are constructed of the same heavy-duty materials as my corded Milwaukee drills, hammer-drill & sawzal. The carry bag is very well made, tough & durable- I was very impressed.

    .

After a few, full days of work using these tools, here are my findings:

The drill is very solid and has an enormous amount of power & at the same time it operates very, very smooth which is a testament to the power of the tool, but i have never experienced this in another drill before. I had drove 1 1/4″, 2″ & 3″ screws through some pretty tough lumber and the drill drives with no problem & very smooth.

    .

circular saw: I cut plywood, 2×4’s, rough lumber and 4×4’s and cannot believe that it really does have as much power as a plug in saw. It is a great, great tool.

    .

Sawzall. It is just like any other Milwaukee corded sawzall.

    .

The lithium-ion battery system has tons of power. I used my circular saw all day swapping 1 battery and still had power at the end of the work day. One of my batteries was junk out of the box, but these things happen & Milwaukee is going to replace it.

    .

This is an incredible, rugged, powerful, very well made set of contractor-grade tools. It comes with a 5-year warranty & 2000 charge warranty on the batteries. I am extremely happy with these tools.

I have had 8 of these batteries fail, all so far have been replaced under warrenty,

i own the hammer drill, impact , sawzaw each has cooked batteries with small poof of smoke from battery and its dead

i advised Milwaukee of what i believe the problem is and the batteries failing they advised that ITS me causing the tool to fail. but they have replaced batteries under warranty

when i first phoned into their support they advised me of AN ISSUE with the batteries which caused them to fry under load/stall. Since that point if i call back they deny they ever told me this and turned the blame on me

if your using the drill and or sawzaw and the bit or blade binds/stalls for a split second it fries the battery.

bottom line dont risk it and buy this tools , mine have been broke more then they have worked

i have used a cheap 30$ walmart drill to finish the job that the milwaukee fried on,

still currently fighting Milwaukee to fix my issue, this time they are CHARGING ME to mail my batteries back in for inspection

BOTTOM LINE IS IF THE DRILL CANT TAKE A SLIGHT STALL OF THE BIT THEN IT SHOULDNT HAVE A DIRECT DRIVE MODE. OR Should say you cant use a spade bit or hole saw bit with this tool. the sawzaw smoked batteries when a slight pinch on the blade while cutting a drain pipe.

Since i thought ok maybe its me, i let others use the tools, a professional mechanic at a auto shop used the sawzaw for 5 mins and fried batteries and proceeded to laugh at the crappy quality of the saw

DONT GET ME WRONG WHEN IT WORKS ITS GREAT.. MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE HAD IT ITS WAITING ON ME TO RETURN THE PRODUCT FOR REPLACEMENT

These are my first cordless tools, and I wanted something that was as close to corded performance as possible. I’m very pleased with the quality and performance of everything and highly recommend this kit. The Sawzall is made in the US, and the other tools are made in China, but they appear to be made to the same standard. The carrying bag works but isn’t ideal, as all the tools are piled in on top of each other without any protection (except for the pockets for the batteries and blades) – be careful not to scratch up the work-light lens. You can buy the separate molded plastic cases later (a bit overpriced, and I haven’t calculated how it all comes out as compared with buying the tools separately).

I bought this tool set based on everyone’s opinion I read here, and just from Milwaukee’s reputation itself. I must say that the tools does perform as claimed. I used all of the tools that came with the combo kit. They all perform as I expected. I have not use it in the cold weather like some of the reviewers, but in New Mexico, it is awesome. First, all of the tools are of high quality. So they perform. Second, I really love the battery. The two big 28V lasted me all day. Recently, I built a bed frame because I didn’t want to pay $400.00 for it, so bought all of the woods from Home Depot and let my Milwaukee do the rest. I used the drill, circular saw, and the sawzall. The battery running the circular saw lasted me all day. As for the drill, the battery lasted me for the entire project. If the battery ran out, the charger tooks only one hour to recharge the whole battery. So you have continues power. The combo kit really convinces me the power of convenient with cordless. Before this, I have alway though of cordless equipments as whimpy tools. After I bought this Milwaukee sets, I wanted more. So all in all, I am very happy with it. I would recommend it to any one. This is a good buy.

Battery charging system works fast without issue. Remaining battery life indicator is handy.

Note that the drill is built for heavy duty jobs, and is a bit heavy in weight for “small work”.

Yeah they’re about as good as corded tools, getting used to that backasswards circ saw even, just have to cut left handed. I should have skipped on the hard cases though because they’re bulky as hell and the tools are tough enough to rattle around in the bag. Just not enough tools in V28 compared to V18, though I’m seeing more lately. But V28 is the way to go. If you’re just starting a power tool collection start with these. Younger generations need never know the hassles of extension cords.

edit-The hammerdrill did let me down; I was hammerdrilling concrete and even though it was 14*F it overheated and melted something inside that made the fwd/rev switch jam. It was fixed under warranty but I expected better durability from Milwaukee.

The first truly commercial grade battery operated tools. I have used them all in my business over the years. This is the first combination of truly a commercial grade tools, saw, sawzall, drill, impact driver, all top notch tools. Combined with a great battery they run for hours on the job. They are only a fraction behind there corded version in function. On the job they are used every day, and the same corded counterpart sit idle most of the time.If you need real tools, not toy’s this is the one. I just bought this not too long ago and so far am thrilled at the quality of all the tools. I was able to cut through a treated 4X4 with the circular saw (2 cuts) and it never slowed down. The drill is awesome, put in some 4″ lag bolts in the 4X4 and the drill never once slowed down or complained. The recip is very well built, very powerful. So far the batteries are holding up great and I love the charge indicator on them. best set of cordless tools I’ve ever used.

I had been looking for a Milwaukee set for better than a year, was looking at a 18V set at the time. When this came up on a GREAT sale, I jumped on it! It’s a great set with wonderful power. I’ve used 18V Milwaukee sets in the past, and this one is better. The drill is heavy, but it’s power meets the needs. I’m very pleased with the Sawzall also, I’ve used it more than any other tool. The whole set works wonderfully!

    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
    Pros:

+ power to do almost all real-world tasks

    + quality is high

+ circular saw is best cordless ever

+ battery life is good and meter is useful even for contractors

+ bag is *much* better than one of those formed cases

    Cons:

    - pricey compared to 18-volt

    - cold performance is poor, especially disappointing due to marketing claims

    - easy to switch drill to hammer mode when adjusting clutch

    - drill is great, but heavy

I’ve been using this tool set for more than a year now in a residential construction job. Though I am an HVAC contractor, I do lots of wood carpentry as part of the job. I bought the V28 set primarily after searching for the best cordless circular saw. Well, this is it. I haven’t plugged in a circular saw since I’ve had the V28! I use all of these tools on a daily basis and they do everything I ask them to do. There’s only one job where I even notice that I have a cordless tool in my hands: ripping treated or other hard lumber. Ripping is a hard job and I’ve melted the bearings/bushings our of corded saws while doing it. The V28 never gives the impression that the saw is being harmed, but it does bog down when ripping difficult woods. In such situations, a corded saw would be more powerful, but I like the V28 saw so much I don’t bother with cords. I’ve yet to find anything that the drill or sawzall won’t do. From hole saws to ship augers, the drill just goes through anything until the battery dies. You pay for this power in weight, though, as this is the heaviest cordless drill I’ve used.

I’ve found one achilles heel with my V28 tools and it’s cold-weather performance. I leave my tools on my van as it’s inconvenient to take them home with me , so they sit out all night in the cold weather. When the batteries are stored below freezing, you will notice the difference come morning. The tools just won’t have much power at all until the batteries warm up. Milwaukee claims that you can simply use the batteries for a few minutes and they will “warm themselves up” and operate normally, but any battery will warm up during use, so this is not a novel feature. What happens with the V28 batteries is that they will indeed warm up if you use them enough, but by the time by the time they are warm enough, they will be out of juice. This is rather confusing, because I know that lithium-ion batteries generally work better in the cold than NiMH. I’ve had lots of experience with NiMH cordless tools, though, and am convinced that the V28’s are notieceably worse in the cold than my old NiMH tools, which were much, much cheaper. I am willing to put up with this poor cold performance in light of how good the tools are in every other respect, but I don’t care for Milwaukee’s marketing claims that their lithium-ion batteries offer cold-weather performance superior to the standard NiCd/NiMH types. I beg to differ. My V28 batteries spend a *lot* of time in the charger during the winter. An electrician that I work with liked my V28 tools and bought his own set and he has independently experienced the same cold-weather disappointments that I have.

In short, these tools are good enough to satisfy almost any contractor-grade user out there. They only leave you grumbling during the winter, though I typically manage to avoid the extension cord even then. Corded tools are still much cheaper and should provide a longer life than even the best cordless tools, but the convenience is worth it for me considering the way I use power tools. If you do framing or other major carpentry in one place, you’ll prefer to run a cord and use cheaper, more powerful, corded tools. If you move around the job a lot and do many smaller, but still demanding jobs, you will probably be quite happy with the Miwaukee V28. Unless you only need one specialized tool, I highly recommend this 4-tool set, since the individual tool/battery combos are outrageously priced. With the V28, you are mostly paying for the batteries, so you might as well get the tools all together.

I can’t think of much negative to say about this kit. It wasn’t packaged perfectly for shipment, which is amazon’s fault, though nothing was damaged. Every tool in the kit has been used and they all meet or exceed expectations. The battery meter is a fantastic idea — you will see that feature on all cordless tools in the future (and I’m a contractor, not a DIYer). The bag is much better than a form fitting plastic case that takes 10 minutes to get closed. It’s plenty big.

i will give this kit a chance but the first time(and only time so far)i used the hammer drill the chuck locked up and i could not get the drill bit out, i had to use a pair of channel locks to open it.

the dewalt kit i previously owned for five years never locked.the battery meter feature is nice for homeowners but a contractor uses the tool until the battery is dead.i like the flashlight better than the dewalt, the dewalt snakelight doesnt adjust well and breaks.

the beltclip is nice if you wear a belt but i dont, and no one wants to see my hairy white as_.i may send this kit back if this happens again.

A little heavy but otherwise outstanding. I like the fuel gauge feature. Forty five minute charge and 5 hour run time per charge is excellent. Lots of power, almost like a corded tool.

Have had for several months. Mostly use circular and saws all, both work flawlessly. Almost as much power as corded tools and not muck heavier. The only complaint I have is I put my fingers in the quick change section of the saws-all. After two black nails and one bloody finger, I think I have learned to keep them away.

I’ve used the drill the most so far and definately has my approval. (Wish I had another because it alway seems I’m switching from drill bit to screw driver). I’ve also used the saw and have no complaints. I haven’t used the saws-all, so I can’t honestly say anything good are bad about it.

The batteries work great. I like the feature of having full power or nothing at all. The batteries charged up in very little time, but I did invest in buying a couple of more batteries so I wouldn’t have any down time. They’re not cheap, but I hope I get some reasonable life out of them. A couple of reviews claim they had pproblems with the batteries, but I don’t think they knew how they work. They won’t immediately start to charge if the battery is warm from being used, but once they cool down they always charge right up.

I have only had this set for a few weeks and so far I am pretty impressed. All the tools in this set seem to perform quite well. I used the circular saw a few days ago to build a large box and the saw ate right through the plywood and 2×4’s. Another feature I really like about this set is the size of the bag that comes with it, it is huge and has plenty of room to be able to store tools and accessories and still be able to zip the bag up. This is an expensive set, but I think it is going to end up being worth the extra. I also like the long warranty that comes with it. Check it out at Milwaukee’s web site. Hope this info helps everyone out.

    Awesome tool set!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This tool set is the best I have used! I have experience with the 18 volt Dewalt and Milwaukee sets as well as extensive experience with 18 volt ridgid tools. This set surpasses in all aspects of tool performance. The drill has more torque than any of its 18 volt competitors and drills long screws with ease. My friend borrowed my set(maybe the sets only downfall: all your friends want to borrow it) and built a 10×12 deck and used the drill for running screws. He only needed one full charge to finish. He also loved the power. The drill eats studs using the 2 1/8″ self feed bit better than any of its competitors. The circ saw is great for cutting 2x material and OSB board. It is really handy when cutting out our registers in the floor. I normally use a corded model but do not have to anymore as this does an equally good job without the cord and the battery doesnt fade. My favorite tool is the sawzall. You can do anything with this tool. I use it to cut holes in the roof for our vents, cut holes for the tub drain, cut PVC, cast iron pipe, copper pipe, etc. Ive even used it at home to cut up limbs in the yard. The light is pretty bright but I find that it isn’t that much better than it’s counterparts besides of course the longer run time. The batteries are the heart and soul of this set. The benefits are too many to mention and I will leave it to you to check up on them but just know that the claims milwaukee makes about their batteries are accurate. All in all this tool set is a must buy for contractors and plumbers as well as the avid DIYer.

    Problems with the 28volt batteries
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I love the tools, and the batteries are great until they break. We use these in a commercial plumbing bussiness, and have been averageing a 50% failure rate on the 28 volt batteries. They have all been covered under warranty, but it has been very inconvenient to have to send them in and get replacements. I’m wondering if there’s something we’re not getting about this?

    The Future Has Arrived

I have worked with this kit for several weeks and I am convinced that Milwaukee has hit the bull’s-eye.

Apart from the revolutionary V28 Lithium Ion battery technology, the tools are perfectly balanced, powerful, versatile and rugged. They are contractor-grade and ready to work as hard as their corded equivalents.

V28 is something unto itself. If you’ve ever thought that cordless tools were more trouble than they were worth (I did!) V28 will make a cordless convert of you. I bucked 2X10 joists all day with the circular saw without a recharge and it is very quiet to boot. The drill and reciprocating saw are equally capable. The battery packs last all day, don’t have a recharge “memory” and recharge very rapidly. I was so pleased that I ordered the V28 jobsite radio!

Milwaukee did it right. I expect to see this technology expanding across their entire line of portable tools. One thing for certain: everything Milwaukee manufactures is rugged. There’s no downscale line of tools for the “occasional” user.

At the price that Amazon offers this kit, it’s a no-brainer. Highly recommended!

I’ve been using this tool kit at least once a week for the past 2 months or so and I can definitely say that they perform as expected. I’m not sure that the lower weight or extended run time is really the best reason to upgrade from your current cordless tools given the price of this kit. However I didn’t own any other cordless tools, so purchasing this slightly more expensive set was worth the money. The sawzall and drill are definitely the two tools that I use the most and they have held up wonderfully. The drill (set to hammer) eats through concrete surprisingly fast.

I would have given this set 5 stars, except for the following:

    1. The batteries are much more expensive than other sets (a reason contractors may be wary of upgrading their existing job tools to these)

    2. The flashlight isn’t all that bright, especially compared to LED lights that are out now. It’s also bulky with the battery and lacks a “lantern” ability to illuminate 360?.

    3. The kit comes with one screwdriver tip, but holds two. Why not just throw in an extra $2 tip?

    4. The current selection of 28V tools is not very large, so if you are looking for a variety of tools that use interchangable batteries, this may not be the kit for you.

The things I like about the set:

    1. You get three high quality tools (sawzall, circular saw, drill), a charger, two batteries and a tool bag to carry them all in. In addition you get the clip lock system and the flashlight, a circular saw blade, 2 sawzall blades and a screwdriver bit.

    2. The battery life is exceptional.

    3. The power actually lasts as Milwaukee claims, high power through the whole battery right until the end.

    4. The batteries are definitely lighter and easier to use for extended periods of time.

    Questionable Engineering
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
When I first saw these tools I was awed by the new battery technology, and since I’m such a tool junkie, I almost purchased them. Then I read the review of the drill in a recent Consumer Reports Magazine in their rewiew of cordless drills. They indicated that they burned up their V28 cordless hammer drill in short order while using it to drive lag screws during testing. They liked the battery, but had serious questions about the tool itself. Just a forewarning; Sometimes it’s best to wait until the bugs are worked out. If the drill is questionable, what about the other tools. Is this C.R. review the reason why the set is now heavilly discounted?

  46. Watermelon Man says:

    WOW!!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I got this kit a couple of months ago and all I can say is WOW!! The drill has plenty of power and turns a 2 9/16″ self feed bit without hesitation. The Sawzall is like using a corded saw…it doesn’t stall out and seems to have just as much power. The circ saw is amazing as well. Again, plenty of power and a long run time. The thing that is most impressive to me is the battery. They run two or three times longer than my 18V batteries did. It also has a constant power throughout. Great job Milwaukee!!
