For all home improvement projects, power tools are an absolute necessity. There are some basic power tools such as jigsaw, circular saw, sander and router that are most commonly used. Circular saw is excellent for cutting down wood, especially sheet materials and plywood. Sander uses power for sanding, and hence saves incredible amount of drudgery and time. Jigsaw is used to cut patterns and holes in the panels, and routers can be used for various small projects that need making recesses and grooves. Various Power Tool Accessories Bit set is one of the most common power tool accessories, and includes bits of most common sizes to complete daily tasks. There is also a hex shank locking system that prevents the problems of spinning bits while working on the projects. The changes are easy and quick so that the job can be finished faster. Some of the most commonly used power tool accessories include alignment tools, drill and drill press accessories, bases, stands and supports, multifunction table, motor accessories, lathe accessories, jigs and fixtures, table saw accessories, pneumatic accessories, INCRA Miter gauges and reciprocating saw accessories.

I’ve had this drill for 3 years now and used it on just about every home improvement project. The batteries hold up well, and the two speed is very helpful. Well-balanced as well.

It delivers a lot of power for the money. As another reviewer mentioned, the switch is reversed compared to most drills I’ve used in the past (dewalt). It has been a very reliable and powerful drill.

I have an 18V DeWalt driver/drill that is much better than this 19.5V Kawasaki cordless drill. The DeWalt is much more powerful and far better quality. However, a DeWalt 18V battery costs more than this entire kit which includes two batteries. I’ve had no problems with the Kawasaki other than the chuck does not grip drill bits securely. Also, the batteries are low capacity and don’t last long.

The batteries and charger for these Kawasaki drills have been recalled because the batteries can blow up either in the charger or while you are using the drill. The reason is almost certainly due to the primitive charger which appears to apply a charge for a fixed amount of time every time the charge button is pressed. Consequently, it is easy to overcharge the battery.

It’s a very affordable drill set.

Nice case, good accessories, and two batteries make it a good value.

The drill works as good as any I’ve owned.

But, the batteries are particularly bad.

The are NiCads and the won’t hold a charge for 24-hours.

The are good for about 10-15 2″ screws and then exhausted

It think that these are either the absolute worst batteries I’ve ever encountered, and I’ve been using them for years!

My suggestion is that you had better plan to have the batteries upgraded at a battery store, which will cost you about $45 per battery pack. I’ve done that for my DeWalt, which was not much better and now I can at least do more work. However, I suspect that this drill drains the battery, some how, because it really should hold a charge for a couple of week. Other NiCads do, so I’m very disappointed.

But, that’s why this kit is cheap! It’s great for kids and very, very light duty work.

I dropped mine from a roof top 3 times last year. The battery was kicked out, but it’s fine otherwise. Unexpected durability.

    Switch fried fast

Good tool for its price but got switch fried after a year of usage. Was using it one night, woke up in morning but it did not work right. It got jerky if turned on and stopped completely in few second. Both batteries are still in good shape though. Thinking to find either spare parts for the switch or buy used one for parts.

The drill worked fine . . .while the batteries lasted . . .which was about a year. Now I have another cordless tool that’s worthless. What’s really needed here are batteries that last the life of the tool. If you buy this, plan on throwing it out in less than 2 years.

Don’t plan on using it long
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This drill should’ve been labeled disposable. After less than a year, the batteries, both of them, barely carry a charge. While the drill was new, the thing was fantastic, and had enough included bits and pieces to make it worthwhile, and while you were running down one battery, the other was charging, making the effective life almost all day. But only a year later the thing is barely more useful than a screwdriver. If you know that your job is less than a day, and you don’t plan to hold onto it for more than a few months, this is worth a sale price.

pretty darn good bang for the buck
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I purchased this set explicitly due to its price – being the cheapest 19-volt cordless drill I could find (at the time) online. This drill replaced a 12v Skil that suddenly stopped working.

    Pros

I just got a chance to really put some hours on this last weekend – having built two 4×8 foot shelves to make a huge rolling cart for my workshop. I drove approx 200 some odd 3″ screws before the first battery gave up. Then proceeded to drive another 100 or so on the second battery (with plenty of juice left) to finish my project. The drill seemed to produce similar output until the very end of battery life – basically dying quickly is what you want vs. having it drag along with poor performance. There are plenty of clutch settings and the high low selection really comes in handy. The chuck adjusts like any other standard tools free one – nothing fancy.

    Cons

One small downside as someone else mentioned is the forward and reverse switch is backwards from every other drill I’ve used. Not a big deal just a minor inconvenience. The bits they supplied are a bit cheap seeming to be made of pot metal. I broke one within the first few hours of using it – probably why they give you two identical ones. The light that illuminates with the trigger is just about useless – shinning light almost 8″ away from the work area. One of my biggest complaints is the charger. It would REALLY be useful if the charger could do its job then go into a standby / trickle mode. Heck any LED indication other than red = on would be nice. It just charges at a constant rate that can ruin forgotten batteries.

Overall despite its few shortcomings this drill has great performance, adequate features, at a fair price.

This was a replacement of the same drill that lasted approximately 3 years. The drill does well for small household projects but it would not be appropriate to use commercially.

Ordered this for my husband for a Christmas present. He LOVES it, and the best part is I get to use it also. One of the best features is the extra battery pack – a no excuse tool for sure. Would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a good reliable drill.

I have only one & a half complaints, wish i’d bought two.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought my drill from Costco almost 2 years ago and it has been great – and I totally ignored the re-call. I’ve dropped it off the tailgate, used it in the rain, it just keeps right on chugging. I work scrap metal, and have used it to twist rebar wire, drill stainless steel sheet, buff out plastic and disassemble industrial machinery. All of this for 2 years running, can you really ask more for $40.00? I usually buy DeWalt, but the Kawasaki sometimes makes me forget, until I look down and see the green color.

I knew the re-call was a scam, I was’nt letting them stick me with an inferior version or confiscate it, heck, I need the drill more than the $40. Seems as though the outside shape has changed since 2 years have passed, maybe the drill I got was better quality since it was just hitting the market back then. Anyway, if they want it back they (the re-callers) will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. I love the thing.

My only complaint (and this is the half complaint) is that the reverse switch that is above the trigger is difficult for a small right hander like me. Instead of forward being engaged on the right side of the drill it has to be done with your thumb on the left (if you are right handed). This is awkward anyway, but if you have small woman sized hands like me, you can easily drop the drill. Another thing is the keyless chuck could have a bit more bite, the bit will sieze up and spin free if you don’t back off right before penetrating sheet metal. Use cutting oil like you should anyway. That’s it though, no real complaints for the price and length of time it has lasted.

Good value for the money for work around the house
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this set at Costco a year ago and so far I’m very pleased. It’s not a heavy duty drill and you can see this right away but then you’re not paying for heavy duty one. This drill is a solid performer around the house and in a garage. Plenty of torque and good battery life. I didn’t have a chance to use the drill bits too much but they look solid too.

overall, it will be hard to find a better deal for $40.

    Mediocre Value

I’ve owned this cordless drill for a couple years, and it has served me well enough for light use. However, the batteries are losing their charge faster and faster. When they become unusable, I’ll probably spring for a Makita or Dewalt at $150 rather than buy two $30 replacement batteries. (Whenever I buy a premium tool, I’m always glad I did.)

I have one of the pre-recall drills which originally came with a 1 hour charger. The manufacturer recalled the charger (batteries would catch on fire while charging) and sent me a replacement 3-5 hour charger. 5 hour recharge times? I’m not impressed. A good company would have eaten the cost to replace whatever necessary to keep the 1 hour charge time.

The drill motor seems so be ok. However, the NiCD batteries are NO GOOD.

They do not hold a charge. There is a Nation Wide RECALL on these units.

Call 1-877-231-9239 for help in replacing these parts, charger, and two batteries. By the way, this includes 19 VDC and 21.6 VDC units.

The case is very nice and the extra parts, bits etc. seem to be ok.

I have had this drill for about 6 months of moderate use and I have no complaints. Great value. I love having two battery packs – no power outage if the first one needs recharged. Couldn’t have asked for more in this price range.

My wife got me this in place of a more expensive unit that I didn’t think was necessary. This unit has been great until YESTERDAY. It still works great, even the batteries seem good, but now when I squeez the trigger all the way in the drill stops and I have to let off a SMIDGE> Sounds like there is a SPED SWITCH problem based on the previous review.

I used this cordless drill for one year for different home projects, no problems so far. Solid construction. Two batteries are very convenient, charging is rather quick. Included bits are high quality. Excellent tool.

If your buying this to be a work horse I probably wouldn’t bother, but if your a home handy man who needs a nice cheaply priced drill this is it. I’ve been in the construction business for over 30 yrs and have always bought heavy duty drills. My drills still work good but having to spend big dollars on a battery just dosn’t make sense to me any more. I bought this drill at Christmas and have used it on and off for the last three months. So far it has plenty of power and is a buy for the money. The bits that came with are also pretty good in quality. So for a forty dollar drill I say go for it.

Was nice until the switch burned out
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I picked one of these up in a local warehouse club last year, around $40, and used it fairly extensively for a couple of months to install wood floors. It was a compact and well balanced unit, and I liked the way it felt in the hand. Plenty of power for a basic drill/driver, and good battery life.

But after about three months, the switch burned out, and it would no longer work. I dissected it to see if I could fix it, but the switch was shot. I have been unable to find a parts supplier online or otherwise. Kawasaki’s sites do not even acknowledge that they make such a product, so I suspect it is manufactured in China and imported under the K label. The reviewer below indicates it is made by AllTrade, but their website says send it back to them, and does not list the replacement parts for sale. Shipping and repair costs will likely be more than the unit originally cost.

It was a nice unit while it lasted, and I may be able to resurrect it with a homemade switch (sacrificing variable speed control).

But based on my experience, I would recommend you spend a little more to get one from a reputable tool manufacturer that stands behind its products.

Price is attractive but you will remember the poor quality long after the low price is forgotten. Drill is made by AllTrade. Drill head on the drill I received for Christmas was not properly aligned, so the bit wobbles with every turn of the drill head. I sent it back to AllTrade for correction while under warranty with a thorough description of the problem but the drill came back in the same condition in which I sent it. Wish I had simply returned it.
